Exposition METABOLISM, THE CITY OF THE FUTURE

Le Métabolisme est un mouvement de l'architecture moderne qui a fait son apparition au Japon aux alentours de 1960, quand le pays s'efforçait de reconstruire après la deuxième guerre mondiale. L'essor économique rapide de cette période avait engendré des débats passionnés et des expérimentations dans le domaine de l'architecture pour planifier une ville idéale.
L'exposition programmée au Mori Art Museum est la première à fournir un tableau complet du mouvement avec plus de 500 documents et réflexions valables également pour les problèmes contemporains.
Environ 80 projets sont présentés pour la première fois au public japonais et illustrés avec des maquettes, des dessins, des esquisses, des photos et des vidéos d'archives. On y trouve en particulier les ouvrages projetés et réalisés par les architectes " métabolistes ", à partir de celui qui est considéré comme le précurseur du mouvement, l'architecte Kenzo Tange avec l'Hiroshima Peace Center.
